Etsy Feature: Upcycled Furniture

Monday, July 11, 2011

Meet artist and furniture maker Matt Johnson. We are very excited about Matt’s work. His upcycled furniture and accessories are different from many of the upcycled pieces we have seen. They are true pieces of art and style while still being created with things like carburetors, pistons and fire extinguishers. Matt grew up an upcycled life. His childhood home was an 1850’s textile mill that his parents turned into a self sustaining live/work house that ran on water power. It was complete with animals and vegetable gardens. Matt has 10 years experience in antique restoration, 5 years in building metal furniture and an Industrial Design degree. His experience and knowledge are evident in his designs. We think you are going to love his work. Check out his Etsy shop Little Bird Studio.

Looks wonderful! Some of the upcycled products that I have seen don’t have the greatest aesthetic quality. This could be one reason why they are not as popular as they could be. Your work keeps the aesthetic quality while re-using materials. Great work.
